Our History

The Comstock District has been one of America’s most influential precious-metals camps for more than 160 years. With the discovery of the Comstock Lode in 1859, Nevada’s first great gold–silver boom ignited, driving major technological advances, financing the growth of the American West, and establishing the district as one of the world’s premier epithermal systems. Today, following Mackay Gold & Silver’s consolidation of key ground between 2023 and 2025, the district is once again positioned for modern discovery across a land package that has rarely been explored with contemporary geoscience.

1859: Discovery of the Comstock Lode
The first major silver discovery in the United States was made beneath Mount Davidson, triggering a historic gold–silver rush and putting Nevada on the mining map.
